Places of Tourist Attraction near Wai:

Maha Ganpati or Dholya Ganpati temple: It is located on the banks of the Krishna in Wai. This is the tallest and biggest of all temples in Wai. Sardar Ganpatrao Bhikaji Raste built the temple in 1762. The idol of Lord Ganesh is in sitting posture and is 6 ft. tall and 7 ft. broad. Wai is the first holy place on Krishna, the people have known Wai as “Dakshin Kashi”. There are also 7 Ghats on the Krishna river’s bank.

Menavali, Nana Phadnis Wada: Menavali is only 3 km from Wai. Nana Phadnis was a minister of the Peshwas. He built a wada for residing on the banks of river Krishna. He also constructed two beautiful temples of Menavleshwar and Vishnu. The temple is known by the Village Menavali. There is a huge metal bell hung in front of one of the temple. This Ghat of Krishna river is famous place for shooting films.

Kashi Vishweshwar Mandir: This is a very old temple of Lord Shiva in Wai. The main feature of this temple is that Nandi is made from the same stone from which the idol of Mahaganpati was made.

Wakeshwar: This is a “Hemadpanthi” type Temple of Lord Shiva situated in the village Bavdhan on the banks of Krishna river having very good natural surroundings.

Dhom Dam: It is 6 km from Wai. The backwaters of the Dhom Dam built across the river Krishna are spread over 25 km up-to the foothills of Mahabaleshwar. Boat Club is located near Dhom Dam.

Lohare Palpeshwar Caves: It is 5 km north of Wai. This is cave of Lord Shiva and is one of the oldest caves in the region. This cave is a good example of the ancient VASTUSHASTRA.

Jambhali Jungle: It is 20 km from Wai. Jambhali Jungle is on the extreme west of Wai. Many birds, and wild animals can be spotted here. A large water reservoir is also built here. This jungle is at the foothills of Mahabaleshwar.

Anandvan Farm: Anandvan Holiday Home Wai has a farm which cultivates grains, peanuts, gram, tur, onion, garlic, mangoes, lemons and many other produce, in its own 10 acre farm at Shendurjane. Only vermicompost and organic manure is used. The entire staff of the holiday home is involved in farming. This farm is located about 6 km from Wai.
